As you probably know downtown Stillwater is very hilly. It’s been compared to San Francisco, but after visiting San Francisco, I have to say it’s not much of a comparison.
When I did some research on the steps I discovered there are actually five steps located in Stillwater. I”m featuring the Main Street Steps, as they are the ones I have personally conquered!
There are approximately 100 steps in each set. It doesn’t sound like much but your heart rate is certainly going to increase. I love the Main Street steps because, as you can see from the photo there is a coffee shop and patio seating right at the bottom of the steps. The view of Stillwater and the St. Croix river is well worth the exertion. I plan on conquering the other four now I know they exist. Here are the names of the other four sets of steps:
- Chestnut Street Stairs
- Pioneer Park Stairs
- Triangle Park Stairs
- South Hill Stairs
Here is a link to a map that shows all five stairs

I could write pages of information on the lovely town of Stillwater but you can discover that by yourself. Be sure to try my pick and let me know how you liked it. Cheers!
