This trail is an off-shoot of the Gateway Trail. The Gateway Trail, runs from St. Paul, MN to Stillwater, MN. The Brown’s Creek Trail is a 5.9 mile trail that follows Brown’s Creek, for the first couple of miles. Then, the terrain gets rocky with deeply wooded ravines. The last mile, or so, has views of the St. Croix River as the trail ends in downtown Stillwater.
It’s a gorgeous ride, a gentle sloping gradient going into Stillwater, it’s a little tougher coming back as that gradient gently slopes upward’s so, if you plan on having lunch in Stillwater, don’t eat too much!
Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter Restaurant
Just less than a mile off the trail on Lofton Street, is the Gasthaus restaurant. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a nice meal before continuing on, or leaving the trail. It’s well signposted and is close to the start of the trail.
I love this trail, the scenery is awesome, the trail is smooth and relatively flat and there are many places to eat and relax.
