Highway 8, is accessible at an interchange at I-35 north in Forest Lake. It’s a slow going drive but worth it. It meanders through the towns of Chisago City, Lindstrom and Center City. It’s a lovely drive, plenty of stores for browsing and lakes to explore.
My first recommended stop is the, Winehaven Winery and Vineyard in Chisago City. It offers some lovely views as it’s located between three lakes and situated on gently sloping hills. I have enjoyed some of their fruit wines. I loved the pumpkin wine, it’s seasonal so not always available. The raspberry wine was pretty yummy too. They also have a chocolate wine that I have yet to try, but I will!

Next stop Lindstrom!
This town has been around since before 1894, when it was incorporated. The town was originally settled by Swedish immigrants who’s descendent’s still populate the area. Even if you miss the sign, you know you’ve arrived in Lindstrom by its iconic coffee pot water tower. It’s a great little town to stroll, with plenty of boutique shops and small town eateries. Check out the bakery!
Next Stop Center City!
So, truthfully, I can’t really remember stopping here. However, if you’re a Minnesota history buff they do have a Minnesota History Shop. They sell historic Minnesota related merchandise so, it might be worth stopping if this interests you. As you drive out of town you may want to stop at Eichten’s Cheese Store.
Next Stop Franconia Sculpture Park!
